Ege University Prof. Dr. Sermed Akgun Indoor Olympic Swimming Pool is a 50 meters length and 21 meters wide Olympic pool. Its spectator area has a capacity of 2000 people. The pool is divided into 21m. length long 20 lanes but it can also be divided into 50 meters length long 8 lanes for some special events or practices.

Water quality is measured and treated digitally. The right temperature of the pool is always 27 degrees in winter or summer season for the club swimmers’ and the kids’ exercise. All swimming equipment are inspected and reported by the Ministry of Health. The pool operator analyzes water three times a day and also an appointed institution by the Ministry of Health and Public Health Laboratories analyses the water monthly. These test results are checked by TR Ministry of Health. There are full time lifeguards and a paramedic for emergencies at the pool.

 

 

This facility is primarily for Ege University alumni and its academic and administration staff. It is also open to any people at a specific time. Whoever would like to use the pool can ask for the key from the management. Monthly membership is available. You can get information about the membership from the consult unit at the pool.

 

Operation days and hours of Prof. Dr. Sermed Akgun Indoor Olympic Swimming Pool:

Winter season: weekdays 06.00-22.00 - Weekends: 06:00-20:00.

Mondays are closed for cleaning between 08:00-13:00.

Summer season: Weekdays 06:30-22:00

Saturdays: 07:00_09:00

It is closed after 09:00 for cleaning.

Sundays are closed. It is closed also on national days and religious holidays.

 

FOR ALL THE POOL MEMBERS - NECESSARY PAPERS FOR THE REGISTRATION:

1 photocopy of an ID

 

 A health report (that proves there is no contagious disease)

 

 A photocopy of Ege University ID with its original card for the university alumni and affiliates.

Swimming suit (short, bikini and haseme is forbitten) and a swimming cap.

Sandals

 

Towel

 

ATTENTION: People who doesn’t know swimming and under 16 cannot swim at free-swimming sessions.

 

Free swimming session starts every hour. Lifeguards remove everybody from the pool by the end an hour.

 

It is forbitten to use course and the club boards during the free-swimming sessions. Personal equipment (flippers, boards, snorkel, etc.) can be used according to the availability of the lanes and the lifeguard’s permission.
